Due to time constraints and the uncertainty of the situation with Lockdown and COVID-19, this year's programme is slightly scaled-down compared to past years. But, there is still a good variety of events on offer, from Chess at the library to planting seedlings in Punakaiki, and a whole lot in between.
Winter Fun Fest was set up in 2017 by Kelly Eden, Katrina Brown, Anthony Hunter, and Patrick McBride, with the aim of promoting events and activities that were running during the holidays and supporting groups and individual who would like to offer experiences to children in the Grey District over the wintery July break.
Co-organiser Katrina Brown said there had been a wide variety of activities offered over the past three years. "We've had gardening, lunchtime concerts, gaming events, art workshops, bike rides, hairdressing days, photography sessions, tea parties and talent shows at the library... the list is very long and varied, and the result of the generosity of time and expertise of people in our community." Katrina is currently overseas and is thankful for the hard work of Anthony Hunter and other volunteers who made sure Winter Fun Fest 2020 happened.
You can check out all the events in the below pdf or pick up a print copy at the Grey District Library, The Regent Theatre Greymouth, CoRe, or the Left Bank Art Gallery. Follow Winter Fun Fest on Facebook: @WinterFunFestGreymouth.
