Tourist hot spot and local favourite set to open May 29.

All eyes on the gold at Shantytown.

Historical replica township Shantytown, situated on the site of gold-rush and sawmilling history, South of Greymouth is set to re-open at the end of the month.

The public will see different hours for now due to the current Covid-19 situation.

- Opening Hours: 10am-3pm.

- Train Times: 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm.

- Gold Panning Times: 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm.

- The steam trains will be on display but hibernating for some much needed TLC.

The legendary 60+ year old Diesel shunting locomotive will step up to the plate for passenger journeys along the line.

New experience opportuntities will be rolling out over the coming months, which may include a jigger cart.

Cleaning and Government Covid-19 policies will be in place throughout Shantytown Heritage Park.
