Regent Ready for Rocky Horror
The Regent Greymouth has been gearing up for a return of the 1975 musical comedy/horror, 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' on July 25.
The idea of a movie theme night was floated during a staff meeting post Covid and a date was set for after the school holiday rush.
"Advertising was only posted on social media last week and as of today, only a handful of tickets remain," theatre manager Jacinda McBride said.
The film will be screened in both cinemas and dress up is encouraged. For the ticket price of $20 punters are getting an entry to the film, a donut from What's the Occasion and a special cocktail/mocktail from Ferrari's Lounge Bar.
"This is a great example of working in together with surrounding businesses. We even have a spot prize from the Woodstock across the road for best dressed."
The film, produced by Lou Adler and Michael White and directed by Jim Sharman was written by Sharman and actor Richard O'Brien, who is also a member of the cast.
The movie is based on the 1973 musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show, with music, book, and lyrics by O'Brien. The production is a parody tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the 1930s through to the early 1960s.
The Regent Theatre will look to host a similar theme night next month for another popular title and advise people to keep an eye on their facebook page and website for details.
