Saturday's stableford was won quite convincingly by Rick Moor with an impressive 42 points although the chasing pack all shot under their handicaps with Raymond Blair second on 38 points and then Micheal Scholes and Jimmy Campbell both with 37's.
Saturday nights music quiz was a great success with 14 teams enjoying a bunch of questions that some of us had more trouble answering than others. Big thanks to all involved in making the night both enjoyable and profitable for the club.
Sunday saw our neighbours from Hokitika venture North for the first round of the semi-friendly TEY Seddon, home and away competition. The final score of 12.5 to 8.5 only gives Greymouth a four point buffer.
Individual results from Sunday's single par had big hitting Ryan Coll first on +3, then Ethan Negri +2, Tony Reynolds and Kevin Thomas +1, then Mike Osborne, Kevin Clucas, Paul Kaye and Bernie Batt all on -1.
Two's were recorded by Peter Bourke, Micheal Scholes x 2 and Bernie Batt.
This weekend the action is all in Westport with the Buller/Westland stroke play tournament taking place at the Carter's Beach course. Good luck to our Greymouth members playing. There will be matches arranged for our home course, again weather dependent.
The only completion golf played over the past week was a four ball bogey on Saturday. Paul Davidson combined well with Aaron Tainui to be the winners from John Bourgeois and Shane Minhinnick with Francie and Wayne Gugich taking third spot. Don Hibbs had the only two.
On Sunday Hokitika travelled to Greymouth for the first match of the TEY Seddon trophy and after going down by 12.5 to 8.5 some work is required to reverse the result in the return match in Hokitika on 23rd of August.
This Saturdays match is a Stableford and on Sunday it’s an Irish Stableford with drawn teams. A reminder that next weekend is the start of the Club Champs qualifying.
